Summer Reading Program

Stop by the library anytime before Saturday, August 15 to sign-up.
Keep track of what you’re reading, earn raffle tickets for weekly prizes & the Grand Prize. One person will win a special prize for ‘Most Read!’
Dinner, Book & a Movie
Starting June 27, you can pick up a copy of our Summer book: “People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry.
Then you can register to join us for Dinner & a Movie on Thursday, July 30 at 6:00pm. Share pizza with fellow lit lovers as we chat about the book then we will watch the movie.
To register, please visit our Adult Reference Desk or our Events Calendar starting June 27. A $5 non-refundable fee is due at the time of registration.
Summer Reading Program
Sign up for Teen Summer Reading on ReadSquared!
Then stop by the Teen Librarian’s office for a welcome bag or receive one at the Teen Summer Reading Kickoff Program.
Log books online each week to get points and stop in to redeem your log for weekly prizes. Record the most points by August 14 to win a one year membership to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City!
100 Point per book, 20 points per book review, 10 points per minigame on ReadSquared, 50 points for each Summer Reading program attended in person. All programs will include snacks!
Build-a-Dinosaur Summer Reading Kickoff
Friday, June 26
2:00 to 5:00pm
Split into teams and compete to build LEGO dinosaur sets to be displayed in the teen room all summer.
First team to finish gets a prize. Enter a raffle to bring one home at the end of the summer!
Gemstone Mining
Friday, July 10
3:00 to 4:30pm
Dig and clean gems and fossils, and keep what you find. Maybe there will be some dino bones too! Registration required.
Reconstructed Pottery
Thursday, July 30
4:00 to 6:00pm
Put smashed pottery back together like an archaeologist! Registration required.
Teen Summer Reading Finale:
Dinosaur Double Feature
Friday, August 14
3:00 to 8:00pm
Join us for the finale of Summer Reading for pizza and a double feature: Jurassic Park and Jurassic World! Registration required.
Countdown to Extinction
All Summer Long
Count how many dinosaurs are hiding in the Teen Room. Closest guess that doesn’t go over will get a package of dinosaur eggs and rock candy!

The Summer Reading Club is open to children ages 0-12.
Keep track of all the time you spend reading this summer to earn raffle tickets for our fabulous prize baskets. Winners will be announced at our Summer Reading Finale. You do not have to be present to win.

The Hudson Valley Reptile & Rescue will brings you face-to-face with a diverse group of scaly friends, from slithering snakes to incredible lizards and everything in between.

Dino Dance Party!

Celebrate all the reading we have done this summer with a dance party with live DJ, limbo contest, popcorn, cotton candy & lots of fun! Raffle winners will be announced (winners do not have to be present to win a prize)!
The dance party will be for members of the Summer Reading Club ONLY.
So be sure to sign up for the Summer Reading Club before August 8.
